chief seattle says

We did not weave the web of life;
We are merely a strand in it.
Whatever we do to the web,
we do to ourselves.

“The Spider is an ode to my mother. She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver. My family was in the business of tapestry restoration, and my mother was in charge of the workshop. Like spiders, my mother was very clever. Spiders are friendly presences that eat mosquitoes. We know that mosquitoes spread diseases and are therefore unwanted. So, spiders are helpful and protective, just like my mother.” L. Bourgeois

just finished two week session teaching book arts at pen land

Here are last pix of my class and the book that Amy Leepard and I made for the first session auction = - it has a "sampler" of historic bindings and an original bw photo by Amy for an inset cover (on vellum). Had another great experience at Penland and the students were wonderful binding artists.
