An artist lecture by Doug Pierre Baulos will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Miami University Middletown. A reception will follow immediately after the lecture. Baulos is currently an assistant professor of art in drawing and bookmaking at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He received his BFA from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1990 and his MFA from the University of New Orleans in 1993. Baulos’ work includes painting, videos and poems that have been exhibited or published both nationally and internationally. His current books are explorations (visual) and meditations (poetry) on his ideas of spirituality, love, death, shelter and hope. Baulos work will be displayed in the Miriam G. Knoll Campus and Community Center at Miami University Middletown from July 26 through August 31. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (513) 727-3200.

piano hinge spine sculpture - book art book sculpture

Woven piano hinge book woven back upon itself to form "bone segment" I will make an embroidered/teneriffe type hoop to put into top so it looks or reference a medical specimen. More pix later. Hope everyone is having a great summer and sewing up a storm! making stuff!
