The Mary C O'Keefe Cultural Center Class Sept. 22

The Artfully Hand Sewn Book Learn to sew multiple types of historically important bindings to create a guided devotional stylebook in the style of 17th and 18th century Psalm books. French herringbone tape structures will be combined with Coptic binding styles to create a unique journal, and students will learn to make custom clasps for their books. All artistic levels are welcome. Advanced students will create a dos a dos. Instructor will provide pre-cut book boards and most other materials. Students may wish to bring heavy decorated papers, paints, Xerox images for transfers, gel medium, X-acto knife, ruler and a cutting mat. A bone folder, awl, circular sewing needles, bone clasps and other threads or objects you like are also suggested but not required.
