Forstall - The devotional Book – combining and sewing multiple bindings at the same time.
Participants must register with Forstall Art Supply - class size is limited.
Student will learn to sew multiple types of historically important bindings and will also create a guided devotional stylebook in the style of 17 and 18th century psalm books. Students will create unique painted covers and case in the books as well as creating unique clasps.
Doug and Forstall will supply –
Adhesives, Pastes, all book block
Students will bring
1 One large piece of decorative papers for end papers
2. 1-3 Bone Clasps optional
3. Book arts thread, awl, bone folder, sewing needles size #1, xacto, ruler, cutting matt, waxed thread.
4. Bring various watercolors and inks, paints and whatever image making supplies you need to create unique painted covers. Instructor will also demo needlework effects if you want to bring other types of string, embroidery thread and additional larger needles. I typically use some transfers type images if you want to bring gel medium, color Xeroxes of your choice. Please bring any other objects you might want to work with!
